The Croatian museum of naive art
Zagreb, Grič
P=3000m2
urbanistic and architectural study 2017.

The study explores the possibility of the construction of the new museum of naive art on the Vranyczany’s Meadow in historic centre of Zagreb, to ensure an appropriate spatial solution for the museum and to improve the public spaces network in the area. The quality of Vranyczany’s Meadow as one of the few large green areas in Upper Town is recognized and preserved by this design, and the building is planned to be dominantly buried underground, behind the historic southern bastion with minimal building volume on the meadow. Public atrium space connects Strossmayer’s Promenade and Vranyczany’s Meadow, creating a new pedestrian link in the Upper Town communication network and a new urban public space suitable for different programs. The only visible appearance on the meadow consists of a transparent, completely glazed multipurpose pavilion and the one storey high construction attached to the DHMZ building accommodating the temporary exhibition spaces and museum offices.
